This person (Eric) has never asked my why I am Chairman, I know this because nobody has! It may well be that nobody else wants to do the job, but I do. I did have a choice to stand, I would have argued my case had anybody stood against me.
I have a great passion for the club. I have always put up rather than shut up. When there is a job to be done I am prepared to do it. I don't knock from the sidelines I am in the thick of it trying to make a difference and that is where I will stay.
I am very proud to be the Chairman of the club, I want to help those that deliver rugby in our club to do so to the highest possible level. To deliver rugby for all as part of the community club that we are.
It is also sad that the some posters to the forum believe that bringing through young talent is a mistake compared to buying in players that we cannot afford. Our financial problems are here because we did not do what we are doing now before. I need to be confident that we are doing the right things for the long term future of the club, I think we are, I will listen to those that think we need to do something different. Sadly too often people can only tell you what you should not be doing.
My thanks goes out to all the people involved at Newbury who do keep the faith and who care as much about the future of the club as I do, together we keep pushing the club forward.
